The device is one of the most common devices whose task is to monitor the voltage in the network. If the voltage falls below the 160 V level or exceeds 280 V, the device circuit operates and disconnects the load from the network. Disconnection occurs in the case when there are sharp pulsed jumps.This is due both to the natural phenomena of electromagnetic radiation during a thunderstorm, and to the operation of starters of magnetic and powerful electric motors powered by a single line. Design

The multifunctional protection device is built on the basis of an input voltage controller and a high-power electromagnetic relay at the output. The whole circuit is protected with a varistor. There are also a pair of tunnel-type terminals. In such terminals, you can crimp wires with an outer diameter of not more than 3.5 mm. UZM 51M controller has two indicators on the front panel. The first, two-color, green and red glow, is designed to reflect the state of the line in the mode of normal operation and overload, respectively. The yellow indicator is connected to the relay contact circuit and signals their position. The adjustment of the limits of the lower and upper voltage of the load shedding is carried out by two mechanical switches of the rotary type, which have a flat slot for a screwdriver. Also on the panel there is a key "test".It performs the function of controlling the device in manual mode. This allows you to arbitrarily disconnect and connect the load. The device provides for regulating elements for setting the thresholds for the activation of voltage protection.

Principle of operation

Works UZM 51M as follows. In the on state (when the device is connected to the mains) the device checks the line voltage. During the appearance of high voltage pulses for which the load is not designed, they are primarily shunted by the varistor radio element, lowering it to an acceptable level.

All processes that take place inside the circuit are reflected using two-color display. The first option is when the mains voltage reaches the upper limit of operation. At the same time, the red indicator starts to flicker, and the yellow light is constantly on. As soon as the amount of electricity exceeds the allowable, the load is cut off, the red indicator is constantly on, while the yellow one goes out. From the moment when the voltage has dropped to the norm, the time delay circuit for re-connecting the load is activated. This status indicates a blinking green LED.A steady green light indicates that the delay has passed, and the load is again connected to the supply circuit. But if during the delay a repeated overvoltage occurs above the permissible level, the system is reset and everything repeats again.

The second option is an excessive lowering of the supply voltage. In this case, the flickering gives green LED. This lasts until the lower threshold is crossed. When this phase comes, the time delay system is turned on, producing a countdown. Next, the load is cut off, and the red color flickers at intervals of two seconds. Equalizing the voltage to the allowable limits again triggers the delay, and then to the green indicator lights up and the load is switched to the electrical line.

Features and parameters

The multifunctional protection device has the following characteristics:

  • Able to protect the line from impulse overloads within 4.50 kV.
  • Provides adjustment of the AC voltage range, within which the load is connected to the supply line - this is 100.0 ... 290.0 V.
  • The time delay threshold is set from 10 seconds to 6 minutes inclusive.
  • Operating nominal current is 63.0 amps.
  • Can operate at ambient temperatures from 20 degrees below zero to 55 degrees above.
  • Undemanding on the type of grounding.
  • It is presented by a modular design, for which 2 places are needed on a din-rail.

UZM 51M: connection

Due to reliable internal performance and ease of connection, the device is often used in automation systems in the industrial and domestic sphere.

When connecting UZM 51M scheme is of two types:

  • With the load connected directly to the output of the ultrasound. In this case, both zero and phase pass through the device.
  • With the load connected only to the phase at the output of the ultrasound, and zero is taken as common for both the relay and the load.

As can be seen from the figures, the circuits do not have any fundamental differences, because in the first version, zero passes through the relay of UZM 51M without any disconnectors. The second option is simply more convenient in the case when the relay is out of order and requires replacement. To work load, you only need to throw a jumper between the phase terminals. But still you should not leave the line without a protective device, you need to quickly put a new one.

The sequence of devices on the input panel, in the list of which there is a UZM, is as follows:

  • Energy meter
  • Automatic safety switch. It protects all wiring from overload and short circuit currents.
  • Next comes the UZM 51M to protect the load from voltage surges.
  • After the relay, if the power grid is divided into several lines, each one has its own automatic protective switch to prevent the circuit from burning due to short-circuit currents.

All automata after UZM are mainly set on the phase, while the zero is connected together through a current-carrying bar.
